Support Tie Kinetix during Alpe d’HuZes

“In the fight against cancer, both patients and their loved ones feel a huge sense of helplessness. Cancer is everywhere. Fighting it seems pointless. Alpe d’HuZes was created with the aim to empower people to convert the sense of powerlessness, caused by cancer, into one of strength. We achieve this by motivating as many people as possible to constantly challenge and expand their boundaries.” Part of the mission of Alpe d’HuZes.

It’s Leaseweb’s belief that every successful company should help wherever they can. A little while back I wrote about supporting Stichting Hoogvliegers and Leaseweb’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program. This time we’re supporting a completely different charity. One of our customers, TIE Kinetix, will participate in the Alpe d’HuZes, currently the biggest charity event in the Netherlands.

During this event, which takes place today and tomorrow, bicycle teams from many different companies will compete with each other to climb the legendary Tour de France mountain Alpe d’Huez – six times in a row! It’s a very demanding task, both physically and mentally. As Alpe d’HuZes write themselves on their website, it’s ‘almost an impossible task’. But it’s also totally worth it; last year the total donations amounted to more than € 20.1 million / $ 25 million. This year the bar is set even higher: € 30 million euros / $ 37 million!

This money is given to various non-profit organizations with one goal: to combat cancer. The full 100% of the donations are given away to research and support programs, none of it is used by the organizers of Alpe d’HuZes themselves.

Tie Kinetix will participate with 8 people. If you would like to support them in their worthy cause, take a look at their team page and help them achieve their goal!

By the way, if you’re wondering why there’s a capital Z in the name of the name Alpe d’HuZes: it’s a play on Zes, which is the Dutch word for “six”, and the name of the mountain.
