Product Updates: Public Cloud, Managed Kubernetes and more

We have been working hard behind the scenes here at Leaseweb to bring you some exciting updates designed to offer you more control, improved performance, and added flexibility when managing your infrastructure. I am thrilled to share these details with you, as they will simplify your work and elevate your experience.

 

Public Cloud: More Control, More Flexibility 

1. Create and Manage Instance Images on Object Storage 

We have added Custom Images that allows you to create and remove instance images and store them in Object Storage in any region.

This enables you to save specific images for later use, whether it’s for scaling, recovery, or duplicating environments, all in one simple step. It gives you greater flexibility and control over managing your infrastructure. 

2. Use Images to Launch or Reinstall Instances 

Furthermore, you can use these created images to either launch new instances or reinstall existing ones. This eliminates the need to go through the tedious process of setting everything up from scratch again, saving time, particularly when you are scaling up or recovering from an issue. 

Faster recovery times and smoother scaling will help you avoid unnecessary downtime. 

3. Real-Time Instance State Updates in the Customer Portal 

To keep you in the loop, we’ve introduced real-time state updates in the Customer Portal. This means you will receive instant feedback on the state of your instances as they start, stop, or reboot—eliminating the need to constantly refresh to check what’s happening. 

Stay in control with up-to-the-minute updates, allowing you to manage your infrastructure more efficiently. 

Managed Kubernetes: New Features to Simplify Your Clusters 

1. Managed Kubernetes Now Available in Canada

We are delighted to announce that Managed Kubernetes is now available in Canada! If you have customers or infrastructure based there, this means you can deploy your clusters closer to them, improving performance and ensuring compliance with local data regulations. 

This opens new opportunities for optimizing performance and complying with regional regulations. 

2. Delete Clusters in the Customer Portal 

With a small but impactful change, you can now delete clusters directly from the Customer Portal. This improvement is especially beneficial for anyone managing multiple clusters and wanting to keep things clean and tidy. 

Keeping your Kubernetes environment clutter-free has never been easier. 

3. Modify Cluster References for Better Organization 

You can now modify cluster references in the Customer Portal. This means you can add more meaningful names to your clusters, making them easier to track, especially if you’re managing many at once. 

Organizing your clusters just became a lot more intuitive, especially when managing large-scale environments. 

4. Restrict Kubernetes API Access by IP Address 

Security is a top priority, and we’re now offering the ability to restrict access to your Kubernetes API by IP address. This allows you to control which IPs can interact with your clusters, adding an extra layer of protection to your operations. 

Tighten your security with minimal effort by restricting access to trusted IPs. 

5. Improved Cluster Overview Page with More Details

To provide you with a more complete picture, we have revamped the cluster overview page to include more detailed information on each cluster. This update makes it easier to get a snapshot of your clusters’ status and configurations at a glance. 

Get more clarity on your clusters without needing to dig through settings—everything you need is right there.  

Customer Portal: Simplified and Consistent Ticket Management 

1. Improved Support Ticket Submission 

We have enhanced the Create Ticket form to simplify submitting a support ticket. It’s now faster and more intuitive, helping you get the support you need with fewer steps. 

2. Updated Ticket Listings and Details Pages 

In our effort to provide a more consistent and streamlined user experience, we have refreshed the ticket listing and details pages. 

Developer Platform: Terraform Plugin Released in Alpha 

New Terraform Plugin for Public Cloud and Dedicated Servers!

We are excited to announce the alpha release of our Terraform plugin on GitHub, which provides basic functionality for managing public cloud and dedicated servers. This is a first step, and we are looking forward to your feedback as we continue to build out its capabilities.
