Leaseweb expands into Germany

On Monday, Leaseweb announced its expansion into Germany with the acquisition of netdirekt, a leading Frankfurt based, German hosting company. This transaction is part of continuing initiatives by Leaseweb to meet customer requirements for the quality internet products and services in high growth internet markets.

Leaseweb has been serving the global internet market, since its founding in 1997. Leaseweb currently peers with all major European internet exchanges including: Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, Brussels, Copenhagen, Luxemburg, Paris, Budapest, Bucharest, Warsaw, Prague, Bratislava, Milan, Vienna, Stockholm, Oslo, Zurich and Madrid. In addition, Leaseweb is developing strong network connectivity in North America.

The Frankfurt internet exchange (DE-CIX) is one of the largest in the world, along with Amsterdam (AMS-IX). The German data infrastructure market is very competitive. Leaseweb will be offering our full range of quality products and services, localized for the German market with full German based support in the near future. Leaseweb and netdirekt share the same values when it comes to providing superior customer service, and the acquisition of netdirekt will provide many benefits to its customers.

Our priority in 2011 will be the successful integration of netdirekt into Leaseweb. We welcome netdirekt employees into the Leaseweb family. For netdirekt employees this acquisition is an opportunity to broaden their skills and qualifications and seek new challenges, as part of the larger Leaseweb organization. The acquisition of netdirekt will offer these committed employees many further opportunities for career growth and advancement. The country manager for the new operation, Wiethold Wagner, is a dynamic, visionary leader, who will guide the organization in Germany as Leaseweb works to fully integrate our operations.

Leaseweb already has a large German-speaking client base. This acquisition will bring the number of clients we serve globally to over 12,000, with a total of more than 36,000 servers. These customers will have access to the superior Leaseweb network, now with more than 1.5 Tbps of available connectivity and the advantages of a highly secure, advanced hosting infrastructure.

The German data hosting market is one of the most intensely contested sectors in Europe and is currently undergoing a marked period of consolidation. With this acquisition, Leaseweb will become a major player in the German-speaking hosting market across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (the so-called DACH market).

Leaseweb is continuing to expand its footprint globally. We recently announced the opening our first datacenter in the United States. For Leaseweb, the growth in customer demand for our high quality products and services has been unceasing. Leaseweb will continue to expand its global network footprint to meet rising customer demands for the very best internet infrastructure products and services. 2011 looks to be a very busy year for Leaseweb.

The USA datacenter is already planned.
