On 4th October 2011, two Leaseweb Business Development Managers traveled all the way from our HQ in the Netherlands to Warsaw, Poland for WHD.local. This event is a World Hosting Days spin-off that brings the most interesting IT companies to a location close to local businesses. Smaller, more compact and more intensive than its parent event, WHD.local gives an update on current hosting affairs. It also offers the opportunity to meet many interesting industry colleagues and discover whether we can support them as a hosting provider. All this is done together with lunch, coffee breaks and an evening reception.
This WHD.local event took place in the small town of Ożarów Mazowiecki, which was some way from the center of Warsaw. But the glass is always half full at Leaseweb, and there were many interesting presentations to attend. Here are a few that caught our attention:
- How to profit from the cloud
- Make more revenue with domain names
- Domain management
- Partnering with VMware for the hybrid cloud
- Efficient datacenter cooling
- Cloud and CDN
When we weren’t attending presentations, we spoke with current and future clients. A big part of business development is showing that your company is trustworthy, that you can handle whatever gets thrown at you. Leaseweb, with its high quality 2,3 Tbps network and 99,999% uptime, can reliably run even the most business critical applications. But words are like the wind – they blow easily past. That’s why we create so many client cases. Customer endorsement is the best way to show your qualities.
One thing that (again) became abundantly clear from our visit: The Polish market is growing strong. Local competition is increasing and software vendors are introducing Polish versions of their products. That’s why we are very interested in partnering with local hosting providers in order to help them grow and become more competitive. To that end we recently extended our capacity towards Polish Telecom, and will keep investing in our connectivity with the Polish market as well as PL-IX.
Overall, the event provided a good way to foster business networks in a relaxed atmosphere and getting updated on current topics and solutions. We’ll visit more WHD.local events in the future, so be sure let us know if you’re attending too – either through Twitter (@Leaseweb), or leave a comment below. See you at the next WHD.local!
