On Twitter today we saw Kim Dotcom tweeting some statements saying Leaseweb wiped data from dedicated servers formerly in use by his storage service MegaUpload. I think this calls for a reaction.
Due to the exponential increase of traffic in current web industries―for example, video on demand, live video, and online gaming―today’s Internet user requires an advanced technology to deliver this content as fast as possible, in the most reliable way. That’s where a Content Delivery Network (CDN) comes into play.
Sometimes less can be more. There are types of web scale workloads that don’t require a lot of single threaded CPU performance, such as static web content delivery or low-end dedicated hosting. In those cases, using microservers based on multiple low-cost, low-power server processors can be an interesting prospect.
