What changed in your Leaseweb Acronis Backup plan?
If you’re using Acronis Cyber Protect through Leaseweb, your plan now includes Acronis Advanced Backup features: continuous data protection, advanced antivirus and antimalware protection, one-click recovery, and granular restores, at no extra cost.
This guide explains what each feature does, which problems it solves, and what needs configuration.

Which Acronis Advanced Backup features are now included?
1. Continuous Data Protection (CDP)
CDP continuously backs up changes from critical applications between scheduled backups, shrinking your recovery point objective (RPO) from hours to seconds.
Why scheduled backups create gaps
Scheduled backups create RPO gaps. If you back up daily at midnight and your database crashes at 11 PM, you lose 23 hours of transactions.
What this looks like in practice
A finance team’s database crashes at 4 PM during month-end close. With CDP, they lose roughly 30 seconds of data instead of 16 hours.
2. Advanced Antivirus and Antimalware Protection
Machine learning-based detection monitors backup processes for ransomware behavior and isolates backups before encryption occurs.
Where signature-based antivirus fails
Signature-based antivirus cannot catch zero-day ransomware. New strains encrypt both production data and backups before security tools identify them.
What this looks like in practice
A phishing email leads to ransomware deployment. Behavioral detection spots the unusual encryption activity and isolates backups before compromise, preserving a clean recovery point.
3. One-Click Recovery
One-click recovery lets non-technical users restore entire workloads independently, cutting recovery time objective (RTO) from hours to minutes. For recoveries to dissimilar hardware, Acronis Universal Restore handles the process automatically, adapting system settings to match the new environment.
Why IT becomes the bottleneck
IT teams become recovery bottlenecks. Every restore requires technical intervention, which creates delays when multiple systems need recovery at the same time.
What this looks like in practice
Ransomware hits at 2 AM. End users start recovery via a self-service portal instead of waiting for queued IT tickets.
4. Granular Recovery
Granular recovery lets you restore individual files, emails, database records, or application objects without a full system recovery. Support now extends to SQL Server clusters, Exchange clusters, Active Directory, MariaDB, MySQL, Oracle DB, and SAP HANA.
The problem with full cluster restores
Standard backup forces full cluster restores when you only need specific database tables or records, meaning hours of downtime for a targeted problem.
What this looks like in practice
SQL Server cluster corruption hits during business hours. Your team restores specific tables in 2 to 5 minutes with no cluster downtime instead of taking the entire cluster offline.
Bonus feature: Immutable Storage (14-Day Retention Lock)
Immutable storage locks backup copies against modification or deletion for 14 days. Even administrators cannot override this in compliance mode. It supports GDPR, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 requirements.
Why backups are a ransomware target
Ransomware operators increasingly target backups before encrypting production data. Compromised admin credentials can delete all recovery points before an attack deploys.
What this looks like in practice
An attacker compromises an admin account at 2 AM and attempts to delete all backups before deploying ransomware at 6 AM. Immutable storage blocks the deletion entirely, preserving a full 14-day recovery window.
Note: Immutable storage is included in your Leaseweb Acronis Cyber Protect plan but is separate from the Advanced Backup feature set.
What this upgrade means for your infrastructure
This table summarizes how your Leaseweb Acronis backup behaves before and after Advanced Backup is included, and what it means for RPO, RTO and compliance.
| Feature | Standard Backup | Advanced Backup (Now Included) | Business Impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Continuous Data Protection (CDP) | Scheduled (hourly/daily) | Continuous and in real-time | RPO: Hours to seconds |
| Advanced Antivirus & Antimalware | Signature-based scanning | Behavioral detection + backup isolation | Clean recovery point preserved |
| One-Click Recovery | IT-only recovery execution | One-click self-service for end users | Recovery: Hours to minutes |
| Granular Recovery: Application scope | Files, folders, basic workload | SQL clusters, Exchange clusters, AD, Oracle, SAP HANA | Enterprise workloads covered |
| Immutable Storage | Admin-level access | 14-day immutable lock | Compliance: automated |
| Granular Recovery: Restore scope | Full system restore | Individual file, email, record | RTO: Hours to minutes |
Feature availability: Most improvements are active immediately. Continuous Data Protection and One-Click Recovery are the features that require configuration for your critical applications (about 5 to 10 minutes each).
How to enable the new features
Already active, no action needed: immutable storage, advanced antivirus, granular recovery.
Requires 5 to 10 minutes of configuration: Continuous Data Protection (apply to your critical applications) and One-Click Recovery (define which users can restore which workloads).
