Last night the annual Dutch Website of the Year Awards took place in the ‘Beurs van Berlage’, Amsterdam. LeaseWeb attended the event as a sponsor and the team was given a great table right in front of the stage. It was a spectacular evening, filled with great food, drinks and entertainment.

We are always on the lookout for new opportunities to share information about LeaseWeb, hosting and dedicated server news, customers and our products. The LeaseWeb YouTube channel was selected by us to be the latest medium to enable us to further engage with our customers and our followers. It is a great point of reference for the most recent technical and customer information we have to offer, and the feed even includes video bloopers!
On 4th October 2011, two LeaseWeb Business Development Managers traveled all the way from our HQ in the Netherlands to Warsaw, Poland for WHD.local. This event is a World Hosting Days spin-off that brings the most interesting IT companies to a location close to local businesses. Smaller, more compact and more intensive than its parent event, WHD.local gives an update on current hosting affairs. It also offers the opportunity to meet many interesting industry colleagues and discover whether we can support them as a hosting provider. All this is done together with lunch, coffee breaks and an evening reception.
Growth in the Russia internet services market is rocketing and so it’s with a strong agenda that World Hosting Day opens the doors to its Moscow conference. LeaseWeb’s Russian market expert, Olga Janasik, will be speaking on the subject of “Fast-track your European Servers with our Reseller Program”, which intends to give potential global partners the chance to hear about collaboration within the web hosting industry to help support international expansion.
A few weeks back LeaseWeb visited the European edition of the Game Developer Conference in Cologne, Germany. The GDCE brings together a worldwide community of game developers and business professionals for a single purpose: To share their knowledge of all the new design, programming and marketing developments in the gaming industry. It’s the largest game development gathering in Europe of its kind, and an excellent opportunity to have get in touch with the inspiring industry leaders. Big names such as EA, Infinity Ward, Wargaming.net and NCsoft were attending, as well as lots of smaller companies.
What a week! The industry was out in full force at HostingCon 2011, and with speaker sessions from Liam Eagle of the WHIR to Stephen Oakes of the FBI, there was a lot to see and hear. The LeaseWeb team came back exhausted but excited about everything that was accomplished during the week. With an interest in forging relationships with other hosting providers in the U.S., the team was out to meet potential partners and customers. And while a Starbuck’s coffee stand at our booth was a draw for many event goers, the roving LeaseWeb mini-helicopters attracted a lot of attention, too!
Have you ever checked out computerweekly.com? It’s a very high-profile British IT magazine. They published a really interesting today, based on an interview with our LeaseWeb Security Officer Alex de Joode. He relates some insights on the security mistakes many professionally maintained websites still contain. The article also digs into how you, as an owner of a website or business, can prevent or dodge these potential pitfalls by taking some simple measures into consideration.
Flights. Check. Passport. Check. Cell phone. Check. With three days full of great speakers and a whole host (excuse the pun) of exhibitors, we’re flying out to HostingCon 2011 early to prepare ourselves for the line-up of meetings we’ve scheduled. But don’t forget your phones, as we’ll be offering something a little bit different on our booth this year…
